In 2019 I was national selector for Austria. I had to propose five projects. One of my proposed projects, the Neue Galerie/Kasematten in Wiener Neustadt, became awarded the Piranesi Award 2019. The architects are the slovenian Bevk Perović arhitekti.

Here I am presenting the project Neue Galerie/Kasematten to the jury. The jury said in their final report: „The scheme successfully integrates the new building with the old. This is achieved through carefuly weaving routes through the two and developing a sophisticated relationship of scales. In addition the project provides a richly contextual response, developing an expressive architecture that at times suggests contrast, but is also in part inspired by the existing brick vaulting.“ Congratulation to the architects!
