Piranesi Award awards best architectural realization from the last two years, built in a Central Europe region. Again in 2018 I was national selector for Austria the Piranesi Award. I had to propose five projects. One of my proposed projects became awarded with a honorable mention:
Basilica and spiritual house in Mariazell, 1992-2018 Architects: Feyferlik / Fritzer
The jury summarizes the project as a collection of radical yet patient interventions into an enormous religious complex over the course of more than two decades. Each task is treated with the same attentiveness, regardless of the importance of the programs such the gallery, corridor or visitor study rooms. The project does not have a common language, but it has a particularity in relation to each event. The jury had noted the authors incorporated “time” into the project.
Congratulation to the architects!
